Middle Age

The mixed media exhibit titled “Middle Age” is an exploration of the half way point of adult life. I am interested in the insights, experiences, joys and suffering that emerge as the life cycle progress towards death. The central position of raising young children while watching your own parents slowly decline. Balanced precariously between the growing awareness of mortality and the wonder of new life. The works in this exhibit represent my felt experiences of this stage of life. It is a meditation on the past and how we remember those we have lost as well as reflecting on how we will be remembered both to all the versions of ourselves and by others. The creative process for this exhibit incorporates an eclectic use of materials which call upon my past identity as a sculptor while also including collage, painting, drawing, animation and installation. The work in this exhibit builds upon and expands the styles and themes from my artistic journey though out my life.
